Victor Kress has taken part in a meeting of governors of Russia and Japan
On May, 2nd in Moscow, in the Petrovsky Putevoi palace, the meeting of governors of Russia and Japan has taken place. The head of the Tomsk region among the Russian governors has been invited to this meeting.
The meeting has been organised by the All-Russian public organisation of assistance to development of the Russian-Japanese relations «Russian committee of the XXI century» and the Government of Moscow. This high meeting was spent already the second time and is a platform on which the Russian and Japanese governors can discuss prospects and problems in mutual relations of regions of two countries.
Following the results of the meeting which have passed in 2009, the Tomsk region with assistance of the governor of Tokyo Sintaro Isihary and the mayor of Moscow Jury Luzhkov, has been invited to enter the international organisation the Network of chief towns of Asia which unites the largest Asian cities (Delhi, Djakarta, Tokyo, Seoul, Singapore, etc.). At a plenary meeting of this influential organisation in November, 2010 the Tomsk region will receive the status of the observer at the Network of cities of Asia.
During present meeting the governor Victor Kress has acted with a message on character of mutual relations of the Tomsk region with Japan, and also has offered some ideas on development of cooperation of the Tomsk region with this developed Asian country. Cooperation in the sphere of a science, education and innovations should become a basis of such interaction. The large Japanese companies still insufficiently well know about innovative potential of Tomsk, except, probably, the company "Panasonic" which has in Tomsk the R&D centre. Therefore the important problem is attraction of the Japanese business to cooperation with the Tomsk high technology companies, scientific research institutes and universities.
