The governor Victor Kress has checked up the works on cleaning of the river Ushajka

The present cleaning of the river - the first for all history of Tomsk. The governor has estimated the works as good, but has told, that it only the beginning, and there are a lot of to do there. The customer of works  - is the department of natural resources and environmental protections of Tomsk oblast. The executive - the Tomsk house-building company.

The works have shown, that Ushajka can be with good reason related to the category of the mountain rivers - all its channel is covered with rubble. Therefore, deepening the channel, the workers simultaneously cobble by this rubble the banks of the river preliminary cleaned of a long-term dump.

The part of the channel will be cleaned by a dredge with a 18-meter arrow. Further works will be continued with the help of the apparatus "Watermaster" which will be brought from Finland in September. The apparatus represents a small vessel with a plenty of hinged facilities which will be used at cleaning of the channel. If necessary the vessel can stand on the bank with the help of special paws (walking facilities).

In opinion of experts, Ushhajka possesses a high ability to autopurification and after all drains in it will be blocked and the bottom is cleaned, will quickly turn in one of the most non-polluting places in Tomsk. Though while from 38 drains it is liquidated only eight. This week the drain from microdistrict Mokrushinsky should be liquidated. 

Acting as Mayor of Tomsk Nikolay Nikolajchuk has assured the governor, that the plan of development of Ushajka banks in the near future will be ready. Settlements of complex individual building and recreational zones will be created there. That means that the banks cleaned of dust and thickets should not remain ownerless.

Experts have emphasized, that increase of passability of the channel does not guarantee full disposal of floodings Ushajka banks during spring high water. Especially as expansions of the channel are not planned.

By the way, an interesting thing about Ushajka, not so long ago the gold was cradled in it. In 1913, for example, 32 poods of precious metal have been extracted.
